Avowed has been postponed until early 2025

Avowed

It seems Obsidian Entertainment’s long-awaited RPG, Avowed, will be slightly delayed. According to The Verge’s Tom Warren, Microsoft and Obsidian Entertainment are set to announce that Avowed’s release will be pushed to early 2025. The game was initially slated for release in the fall of this year, with earlier rumors and an accidental announcement from Obsidian itself indicating a November release.

A strategic decision to avoid overcrowding

The postponement reason seems to be strategic, in order to avoid the crowding of the end-of-year period, which is shaping up to be extremely busy for Xbox. The upcoming Xbox-exclusive STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has already been pushed back to November from its previously planned September release. In this situation, Microsoft wants to create breathing room for all major Xbox exclusives.

Avowed is, according to Warren, “in good shape” and the postponement is more likely a measure to better manage the multiple launches planned for this period.

Significant Xbox launches in 2024

Microsoft has several major launches lined up for 2024, including:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred
Starfield: Shattered Space
Towerborne
Ara: History Untold
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

The company has confirmed that it will be sharing new information about Avowed at Gamescom, with the delay likely to be officially announced there. Stay tuned for more updates on the release of this highly anticipated RPG.
